Despite the Treasury recently refuting claims as “nonsense”, as part of its proposed changes to ISA rules, cash that is held in a non-cash ISA will be taxed at 22%. This is part of a wider ranging set of changes to the way ISAs will work including a reduction in the amount that can be invested in a cash ISA from £20,000 to £12,000. The changes are proposed to take effect from 6 April 2027.
