The rate of technological change and innovation is increasing, with new technologies and new uses of that technology seeming to appear constantly, but are you making the most of these changes?

A recent report published by the British Chambers of Commerce and Intuit has shown that the use of AI (artificial intelligence) is on the increase among small UK businesses. However, it also highlights that small businesses are yet to unlock the true potential of AI in their business.

With the accelerated improvements to AI businesses are using it to help speed up processes and assisting in digging deeper into the business’s finances. AI is an amazing tool to help automate labour intensive or repetitive tasks, helping you focus on the more important parts of the business.

The report has highlighted some key facts that show that the use of AI is on the increase, and is only likely to increase further for the rest of the 2020’s.

  • 35% of small businesses say they are using AI, which is up from 24% in 2024.
  • 24% of the businesses that responded said they would be adopting AI in the future.
  • With only 33% reporting no intension to use AI, down from 43% last year.

There are of course differences between industries, with businesses providing services to other businesses reporting 46% using AI while only 26% of businesses dealing with the public using AI.

The key takeaway is that AI can help efficiency in your business, if used correctly, but can vary based on the sector you are in.
