1. How can you offer this service for free?
We place advertisements around this site, which generate a small amount when people visit them. We try to make sure the adverts contain information or services that you might be interested in.

2. Can I register my own mobile phone number?
Yes you can register your own mobile phone number. If you are a private individual, and you are over the age of 16, you can register your mobile phone number with us for free.

3. If I have more than one mobile number, can I register them all?
Yes you can have more the one mobile number. You can register up to four numbers in total with us for free. These are usually a mobile number, a land line number, a fax number and an office number. However, if you wanted to register four mobile numbers that would be okay, as long as you were the owner of each number.

4. I've registered, but haven't received any e-mail from you activating my record.
If you haven't received a confirmation e-mail from us within 24 hours please e-mail us here. One of our staff will contact you and arrange for you listing to be activated. The most common reason for this is that you may have quoted an incorrect e-mail address. Please enter your e-mail address carefully.

5. Can I register someone else's mobile phone number?
No you can't register someone else's phone number unless you have their permission. Only the owner of the mobile phone number is entitled to register it with us. Each registration requires a valid e-mail address which we use to confirm registration. Number listings will not be activated until we receive a verifying e-mail from the person registering the number. Only one registration is allowed for each e-mail address. Encourage your friends to register, and you can effectively create an online backup phone book of your sim card

6. How do I search for a private mobile number?
Searching for any number listing on www.allnumbers.com is easy. You can use different search criteria to narrow the search but you must know a minimum of either their name, e-mail address or nickname. Wildcard searches are allowed, so entering 'Smith' also would return people with a surname of Smith, Smithson, Smithwhite etc.

7. How many searches can I make?
There is also no restrictions on the number of searches you can make.

8. How much does it cost to search?
Searching for a number on www.allnumbers.com is free.
www.allnumbers.com do not charge you anything for making a search. Your only cost is the cost of your wap phone call, or Internet connection which will vary between providers. An average search will take around 30 seconds, so if you are paying 10p per minute for your wap calls, a typical search to www.allnumbers.com would cost 5p. Searches via the Internet from your PC would tend to be cheaper, but again this would depend on your own Internet Service Provider.

9. What about using my mobile phone?
If you have a wap enabled mobile phone, you can search for mobile phone numbers on www.allnumbers.com easily and quickly. Full instructions on how to connect to wap.www.allnumbers.com can be found here.

10. Must my mobile be manufactured by a specific company to use www.allnumbers.com?
No. You can use our WAP service with any make or model of wap enabled mobile phone - NOKIA, SAMSUNG, SONYERICSSON, LG, MOTOROLA, ORANGE, SAGEM BENQ SIEMENS etc, however, the functionality may differ between handsets. You should refer to the manufacturers hand book for instructions on how to use the wap service from your phone.

11. Must my mobile phone be on Pay As You Go or a contract in order to use your WAP service?
It makes no difference to www.allnumbers.com. We are completely independent of any manufacturer or network provider.

12. My county does not appear in your list of options. What do I do?
If your county does not appear in our list, drop us an e-mail, or complete our customer feedback form, let us know and we'll update our list.

13. Someone else has registered my number. What do I do?
We take every precaution to ensure that only the owner of the number is entitled to register it with us. An account must be activated by clicking a security link in a confirmation e-mail we send to the person registering the number. Any misuse of our services will be not be tolerated and the e-mail address used to activate the account will be passed to the appropriate authorities to assist in their investigations. If you suspect someone has registered your number without your consent, please get in touch with us immediately.

14. What is the IMEI number of my mobile phone?
The IMEI number is a 15 digit unique identifier for your handset. It is usually located behind the battery. Your phone will display this number if you press the following keys, *#06# .

15. My mobile has been lost or stolen. Can I retrieve my details?
Yes. If you are a private customer, you can record details of your mobile handset, including serial and IMEI numbers with us. If your phone is stolen, report your number to your network operator and the police as quickly as you can - the handset can then be barred on all networks and will be useless to criminals. Even if the SIM card is changed, the phone will no longer work on any UK network.

Mobile phone operators have created a single number for victims of mobile phone theft or robbery to call when they want to block stolen phones. The number, 08701 123123, is for all networks and has a recorded message which will let callers know which number they need to phone for their particular network. When you report the crime you will be asked to call your service provider to block the phone, if you have not already done so. You should also contact the police station nearest to where the theft or loss took place, and inform them of what happened.
If you have mobile phone insurance, you should also contact your Insurance provider to report any loss of theft.
